Located in Ma’anshan, The Phoenix of the South is a hospitality project that reinterprets the ancient civilization of Lingjiatan through a modern architectural vocabulary. The design embodies a dialogue between cultural reverence and spatial innovation — a sanctuary where history breathes within the language of modern form.
The hotel’s spatial sequence unfolds as a journey from earth to sky. The grand lobby, crowned with a sculptural light installation inspired by the mythic phoenix, symbolizes rebirth and continuity — a tribute to the spirit of the Yangtze civilization. Curved timber ceilings and bronze accents echo the motifs of ancient relics, while expansive glazing opens the interiors toward the surrounding cultural park and river landscape.
Public areas, including a banquet hall and reading lounge, are crafted in soft wood and stone, balancing ceremonial grandeur with meditative quiet. Guest rooms follow a more intimate narrative — natural materials, diffused lighting, and refined details create an atmosphere of calm introspection, resonating with the project’s cultural soul.
The Phoenix of the South is not merely a hotel; it is an experiential museum of living history, where contemporary design and ancient wisdom coexist in serene equilibrium.
